Rodgers has three seasons of high school football left and has an offer list most seniors would love to have. The Crimson Tide became the 11th D1 program to offer Rodgers Saturday, joining Georgia, Auburn and others. Nick Saban delivered the good news to the in-state prospect.
“I had a conversation with coach Saban, and he told me I had the offer,” Rodgers said. “I felt excited and truly blessed to receive the offer as a freshman.”
Rodgers camped at Alabama last summer and got back on campus for a game this season. He has talked with Saban on multiple occasions and feels the veteran coach does a good job at helping his players on and off the field. Saban complimented Rodgers on his impressive freshman season when informing him of his offer.
“I am impressed with his commitment to athletics and academics,” Rodger said. “He talked about my maturity on the field and how I made a big impact this year.”
A big impact may be an understatement when discussing what Rodgers was able to do during the 2021 football season despite not being Pike Road’s primary back. He finished the year with 30 total touchdowns and 2,171 all-purpose yards. The Alabama target capped off his freshman season with a three-touchdown performance in Pike Road’s 5A State Championship win.
Touchdown Alabama was able to see Rodgers in action when the Patriots took on Headland High School in October. The 5-foot-8, 180-pounder finished that game with four touchdowns. He showed next-level explosiveness and balance when carrying the football.
Rodgers’ recruitment is still in its early stages and all signs point to more teams jumping in on his recruitment in the future.
