DeMeco Ryans was an incredible student and legendary player at the University of Alabama, he has quickly become a much sought-after coach in the National Football League.

The 37-year-old has served five seasons as a defensive coach for the San Francisco 49ers.

He started as a defensive quality control coach in 2017 and worked his way to defensive coordinator in 2021. Ryans’ mindset, ability to relate to players, teaching abilities, and playing experience in the NFL allowed him to coach a defense that pushed the 49ers into the NFC playoffs. Several national media pundits had Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers heavily favored over San Francisco in Saturday’s NFC Divisional Playoff Round.

Rodgers was having his fourth NFL Most Valuable Player season until he came against Ryans’ defense. San Francisco shut the Packers’ offense down at Lambeau Field for a 13-10 upset victory.

Ryans’ defense rendered Rodgers to no touchdown passes.

Green Bay was held scoreless in the second and third quarters. San Francisco stifled the Packers’ rushing attack (67 yards, 20 carries) and held the No. 1 seed to its third-lowest scoring output of the season. People are speechless on social media after seeing how dominant the 49ers looked defensively. As it heads to the NFC Championship Game, the NFL world is singing Ryans’ praises.

Ryans, a native of Bessemer, Ala., is being considered for NFL coaching jobs.
