Nick Saban is now expected to have an elite defensive mind join his staff at Alabama.
Football Scoop reported that Todd Grantham was considering an offer to join Saban, but sources have confirmed to Touchdown Alabama Magazine to expect Grantham to join the Crimson Tide. The 55-year-old has a major footprint in the Southeastern Conference, coordinating defenses at Georgia, Mississippi State, and Florida. Grantham’s pressure packages and disguised looks have produced numerous sacks, turnovers, and first-round NFL Draft picks. He’s coached defensive ends, defensive linemen, inside linebackers, and outside linebackers. Grantham has also served as an assistant head coach in the SEC as well.

Coach Saban likes Pete Golding and wants to continue to develop him into an elite coordinator.
Grantham would help grow Golding’s confidence in experimenting with different pressure looks. Alabama had Charlie Strong as a defensive analyst in 2020, and it allowed the Tide to win a national championship. It could not get Strong back, so having Grantham would be the best option.
Alabama returns several defensive leaders from its 2021 team.
