Quinnen Williams has become a star in New York.
He has done more than enough for the Jets franchise to count on him as a defensive player. Since getting selected at No. 3 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Birmingham (Ala.) native has excelled. At the NFL Scouting Combine, Jets general manager Joe Douglass confirmed to NFL.com that the team is picking up the fifth-year option on Williams’ rookie contract.

During his first three seasons, Williams has started 37 games. He’s totaled 136 tackles and 15.5 sacks, including 53 tackles, six sacks, and 12 quarterback hits in 15 starts in 2021. Williams became a featured pass rusher in his third year, and the former Alabama defensive tackle is getting better. He arrived in the Crimson Tide’s 2016 recruiting class as a four-star and won two Southeastern Conference Championships. Williams earned a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017.
