Nick Saban makes Ryqueze McElderry feel wanted in Tuscaloosa during latest visit

Ryqueze McElderry poses with Nick Saban

Ryqueze McElderry made a return trip to Tuscaloosa Saturday, and it was another ‘great’ visit to Alabama for the Georgia commit.

McElderry still considers himself a Georgia pledge, but he is giving Alabama a good look. Nick Saban caught up with the Anniston, Alabama product during his latest visit to Tuscaloosa, and the Alabama football head coach reiterated what he and his staff have been telling McElderry the last few weeks.

“I feel his message was that he really wants me really bad, that he wants me to come to Alabama and that he needs me to play guard there,” McElderry said.

Before visiting Alabama Saturday, he told Touchdown Alabama his relationship with Alabama’s coaching staff was continuing to grow.

“It has grown tremendously,” McElderry said at the Under Armour Next Camp last weekend. “I feel comfortable with their staff. I recently got on the phone with coach Saban the other day, and I talked to coach Wolford about coming down next weekend. Being around them really helps with the relationship, talking with them almost every day helps as well. I am scheduled to talk to coach Roach and coach Saban again before I go back down there next Saturday. They are telling me they need me and if I work hard my freshman year, I could earn a starting spot. I do not care how long anyone has been there because I am going to work hard to try to start. They feel I am real physical and love everything about me as a lineman. I get text messages from coach Wolford, and he tells me they want me real bad.”

The 2023 offensive lineman joined yours truly on Touchdown Alabama’s new video game series recently and discussed his recruitment, life away from football and much more. The episode is expected to be released Sunday.

McElderry will be at the University of Georgia on March 15.
