4-Star DB Ellis Robinson felt at home during Saturday visit to Alabama

Ellis Robinson during Alabama visit

Ellis Robinson made his first visit to Tuscaloosa since receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide in November last weekend.

Robinson garners a four-star rating from several recruiting sites and is considered one of the top defensive backs in the 2024 recruiting class. The IMG Academy defensive back said his Saturday visit to Tuscaloosa more than exceeded expectations.

“It felt like home,” Robinson told Touchdown Alabama. “I have not been there since I was 12, when I dreamed of a chance to play for Alabama someday. It felt good to be back. It was the best visit I have taken so far. I saw everything Alabama has to offer from facilities to dorm rooms. It was an eye-opening experience. I see why they are so consistently dominant year after year. My parents and I also sat down with coach Saban. I can not lie, I was a little nervous.”

Saturday’s visit also gave Robinson an opportunity to catch up with Alabama’s freshman offensive lineman, Tyler Booker.

“That is my big brother,” said Robinson when asked about his relationship with Booker. “We are both from New Haven Connecticut, played pop warner football together growing up, and he lives right around the corner from me. He went to IMG Academy and so do I. We both just trying to put Connecticut on the map.”

Robinson currently stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 175 pounds. He played his sophomore season at Iona Preparatory School in New York. He plans to play at IMG Academy next season.

As a sophomore, the Alabama target performed well in bump and run coverage, and he was able to make several plays on the football. Iona used Robinson primarily at cornerback, but he also spent some time at safety and wide receiver. Saban spoke highly of his mechanics when Alabama offered him in November.

“They were impressed with my technique, ball skills and tackling,” Robinson said. Coach Saban liked what he saw, and he said offer me. I pride myself on being a complete defensive back. That is what separates me from the rest. I am also versatile enough to play safety if needed.”
