Alabama head coach Nick Saban opened spring practice by announcing Ja’Corey Brooks is out.
Brooks, a sophomore, caught 15 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns in 2021. He brought in a game-tying, 28-yard touchdown reception versus Auburn in the Iron Bowl. Brooks has the trust of his quarterback, Bryce Young, but others must emerge with him out. The Crimson Tide has several receivers, but which one takes advantage of opportunities in practice?
Alabama returns Traeshon Holden, Agiye Hall, Christian Leary, JoJo Earle, and Thaiu Jones-Bell to its roster.
Jermaine Burton enters as a transfer from Georgia, and the Tide has Aaron Anderson and Kendrick Law as early enrollees.
People want to see Hall emerge as the one, but we will see what happens. On Monday, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine discussed Alabama’s receiving options via In My Own Words. He said “It’s now or never for Hall,” but he also previewed other playmakers. It is going to be fun watching which player or players built that connection with Young.
