Derrick McFall picked up his 13 D1 offer from Alabama football Wednesday.
McFall is a 2024 recruit, and he currently attends Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas. He previously held offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and others. The Texas product garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites, and he is considered to be one of the top sophomore running back prospects in the country.
The new Alabama target was notified of his offer from the Crimson Tide during a phone call Wednesday.
“I found out about the offer after my head coach (Ricklan Holmes) told me to give Alabama’s wide receiver coach Holmon Wiggins a call,” McFall said. “The feeling that I had after I was told was unexplainable. I was speechless. I have been watching Alabama since I was a little kid. As I got older, I started looking into their program even more, and their football program is outstanding. I love it.”
McFall wants to visit Alabama in the future after picking up an offer from the Tide. He told Touchdown Alabama he is looking forward to getting an opportunity to meet Nick Saban.
“He is an outstanding coach,” said McFall. “I would like to meet him in person.”
The sophomore made plays in every way imaginable during the 2021 football season. He finished the year with 482 passing yards, 819 rushing yards, 565 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns. Alabama’s coaching staff told McFall they were impressed with his all-around athleticism and speed.
