4-Star OLB Sterling Dixon talks Alabama visit

Mobile Christian’s (AL) sophomore outside linebacker, Sterling Dixon has seen his recruitment continue to blossom despite missing most of the 2021 football season with a shoulder injury.

Dixon holds 19 D1 offers after picking up offers from Notre Dame and South Carolina recently. Alabama football is one of the programs interested in Dixon. The Crimson Tide hosted the Mobile product Monday, and he got to watch the Tide practice, meet some of their coaches and take a tour.

“It was great,” Dixon said. “Alabama showed why they are a team that continues to win. Everything they did was 110 percent. They are very Discipline, and everyone is like family. Everyone at Alabama has a common goal, and it is to be great, so everyone pushes each other on and off the field.”

Alabama’s defensive line coach Freddie Roach has been working to build a relationship with Dixon since the Tide hosted him in June for camp. Dixon’s visited Alabama once during the season, making his latest trip to Tuscaloosa his third visit. The Mobile Christian product said he felt Alabama’s coaches’ messages were plain and simple during his visit.

“I think the coaches’ message was pretty clear and easy to understand,” Dixon said. “Any player that walks through those doors and puts on that crimson and white needs to be ready to give 110 percent at all times because an opportunity is earned not given. I was honored to be in the presence of such great coaches and such a prestigious program.”

Dixon’s offer list includes offers from Georgia, Oregon, Ole Miss and others. Alabama football has not offered the 2024 prospect yet, but Dixon feels an offer from them is one he would be grateful to have.

“Alabama is a school that I would love to have an offer from,” said Dixon. ”It is the biggest offer a high school recruit can have, and it would mean the world to me that such a prestigious school is considering me.”

Dixon currently stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 211 pounds. The Leopards used him as an edge rusher during the 2021 football season.
