A Heisman winner is mentoring a young receiver that will arrive on Alabama’s campus in the summer.

DeVonta Smith, a Louisiana native, has been working with Shazz Preston.

Preston, a four-star signee, also hails from Louisiana. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was the most physical receiver the Tide signed in its recent class. Preston has an opportunity to make an immediate impact in the summer. If he does not pop quickly, Preston will grow and develop into a marquee collegiate receiver. Smith did not garner much attention in the 2017 recruiting class, but he became the best receiver in Crimson Tide history. In a video from Clayton Sylve on Instagram, Smith gave tips to Preston on how to be an elite receiver. The 2020 Heisman winner wore an Alabama shirt and a Philadelphia Eagles helmet in helping Preston.

Nothing like a legend mentoring a future playmaker. Hopefully, Preston will take Smith’s tips and become a star.
