Nick Saban offered 2024 four-star prospects and brothers, Jacob and Jerod Smith after both participated in camp Wednesday.
Jacob and Jerod attend Loomis Chafee School in Windsor, Connecticut. They both hold more than 15 D1 offers and are committed to play in the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game.
Jacob’s offer total stands at 22 after picking up offers from Alabama, Georgia and Michigan State this week. He told Touchdown Alabama he feels there is a lot to like about Alabama football.
“I like the program a lot,” Smith said. “They are a powerhouse team. They run like a machine, and every very part is run as a unit. That is why they produce some of the best players to come out of college, and they are capable of putting plenty of players in the league.”
The Smith family visited Alabama in March, and they got to meet Saban during their visit. Wednesday’s visit allowed them to catch back up with the Alabama head coach.
“Since it was our second time with him, we were a lot more relaxed and we asked him more questions,” said Smith. “We got him to crack a smile.”
Jacob and Jerod are in a very unique situation. It is rare two brothers in the same recruiting class have an opportunity to play together for some of the top college football programs in the country. Jacob said it has been a joy to go through the recruiting process with his brother.
“It has honestly been amazing,” Smith said. ” How many people can say they have the opportunity to play with their brother at basically any school we would like?”

Jacob is listed at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds. He finished the 2021 football season with seven sacks and 29 tackles for loss. Saban told Jacob he feels he can be used in a similar way to how they use one of their star edge rushers.
“He compared me to will Anderson and said he see me moving around like him,” Smith said. “He feels I am able to play in the dirt, play standing up and play dropping back.”
