Mac Jones has an NFL body in second season with Patriots

Mac Jones (#10) gives a thumbs up for Patriots in matchup versus Texans
Troy Taormina - USA TODAY Sports

Mac Jones will enter his sophomore year in the National Football League with confidence.

He led the New England Patriots to the playoffs as a rookie, set franchise rookie records as a quarterback, and made the Pro Bowl.

Jones has earned the trust of Bill Belichick and his teammates, but he is also investing in himself. During his first offseason as a pro quarterback, Jones has dedicated time in the weight room. He’s dropped weight, but he is also bulking up.

New England does not want its first-round signal-caller taking a lot of hits, but Jones wants to prove he can absorb hits. He’s trained with Tom Brady’s throwing coach and wide receivers for the Patriots. DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, and others have been impressed by Jones’ growth. He’s becoming a leader in the system, on the field, and vocally in practice.

Jonnu Smith, a tight end for New England, says Jones has ‘a lot of swagger to him.’

Patriots fans are excited to see Jones take the next step.
