Former Alabama wide receiver Marquis Maze sounded off on the Crimson Tide’s latest recruiting efforts earlier this week. Maze, who played under Nick Saban from 2007-11, shared on social media that he believes Alabama needs to stop getting caught up looking at the stars next to each recruit’s name and get back to looking at each player on its own.
Bama gotta start back getting them hungry kids the 5*’s are cool but most of them let these so called recruiting websites fuck they head up and a lot don’t get no better from high school to college. I’ve said yrs ago fuck winning recruiting battles

Maze’s tweets came after the Crimson Tide lost out on five-star in-state defensive lineman Peter Woods who committed to Clemson. Later on, Maze clarified that his comments are directly related to Woods’ decision and the state of Alabama’s recruiting as a whole.
No I’m not mad that Peter committed to Clemson I’m happy for him, The kid is an outstanding player, I wish he would’ve pick Bama he didn’t so it’s time to find the next 💎

Within his social media rant, Maze called out Alabama’s coaching staff for being lazy and paying too much attention to recruiting rankings on the internet.
If you really wanna know my opinion on this recruiting stuff I think the assistant coaches are lazy now they only offering who these websites say good and really not doing their homework on the diamonds in the rough no more, they gave the kids the leverage in it
