Cormani McClain told the media at the Under Armour Future 50 Media Day Friday he has locked in an official visit to Alabama for the weekend of Oct. 8.

McClain is rated as a five-star defensive back, and he is one of the top cornerback prospects in the nation. He is expected to play his senior season at Lakeland High School. Alabama, Florida and Miami are the schools that are fighting hard for McClain’s attention at the moment. He said a commitment decision is possibly coming in December.

Alabama’s defensive back development stands out to the five-star prospect.

“It is a great school,” McClain said. “They produce a lot of great athletes and a lot of championships, great wins. Alabama produces a lot of good defensive backs. That is what I look into a lot to see what happened in the past and in the future. I think Alabama has a great defensive back coaching staff.”

With a decision likely to come around the early signing period, McClain said he is looking to attend a school he knows will develop him in the future.

“I am going to look into who will develop me the most and the best,” said McClain.

The Gators could get the Florida product on campus at the end of the month, and he plans to officially visit. The Hurricanes have worked themselves into McClain’s top group.
