Over the weekend, Houston Texans second-round pick and former Alabama wide receiver John Metchie revealed that he has been diagnosed with leukemia.
In his statement, Metchie noted that his specific diagnosis is one of the most curable forms of leukemia but he will be away from the game of football for the foreseeable future as he rightfully prioritizes his health and recovery.
Shortly after his announcement, the initial statement was flooded on social media with prayers and words of encouragement from the entire sports world.
