Burnette, who is a four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, earned an offer from Alabama on April 6 during a visit, and Auburn offered him the following day. Both programs got him on campus for their spring game in April.
The two in-state programs are standing out early in Burnette’s recruitment.
The Auburn Tigers’ coaching staff has done a good job developing a relationship with the four-star. He returned to the Plains in June, and he feels they are a program with a bright future.
“I believe that is going to be a really good football team in the years to come,” said Burnette.
Alabama’s running back coach Robert Gillespie has also built a solid relationship with the Andalusia product. He told Touchdown Alabama he loves what the Crimson Tide’s program has to offer.
“It is one of the greatest, the biggest program in the nation,” Burnette said. “They have a great coaching staff, and they work each and every day to be the best they can be. I talk to coach G a good bit. Nick Saban is the greatest coach. He is going to push everybody, treat everybody equally and he is that guy.”
At 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds, Burnette rushed for 2,281 yards last season and 12 touchdowns during the 2021 football season. He kicked off his junior campaign with 80 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown on 14 carries in Andalusia’s win over Opp.

The junior running back currently has Alabama, Auburn, Texas, Texas A&M and others listed in his top 12. He plans to make another cut to his recruitment after Sept. 1, which is when coaches are able to have direct and private off-campus contact with 2024 recruits.
“I am going to shorten down my top twelve in a little bit,” said Burnette. “I am waiting on Sept. 1 to hit to see who I build the biggest relationships with.
