Mac Jones is 0-2 in matchups against his former Alabama teammate, Tua Tagovailoa.

Miami earned a 20-7 victory over New England in Sunday’s season opener, but Jones had a decent performance. He totaled 213 passing yards on 21 of 30 attempts completed. Jones tossed a touchdown pass to Ty Montgomery, but he also threw his first interception of the season. He is trying to operate an offense without long-time Patriots offensive play-caller, Josh McDaniels.

Jones suffered a back injury against the Dolphins. He had X-rays done to make sure there was no damage. His back was in pain, but the scans from the X-rays returned negative. The injury was nothing serious, and there is a chance he plays this weekend against Pittsburgh. Jones wants to be on the field with his teammates, especially after not starting the year like he wanted to.

He set franchise rookie passing records for yards (3,810) and touchdowns (2020) in 2021 for New England.

New England will be monitoring Jones, but all hope is for him to be in action versus the Steelers.
