Despite some late-week optimism, Mac Jones won’t be taking the field this Sunday.
It was first reported by Adam Schefter that the Patriots quarterback had been ruled out for this Sunday’s game against the Packers.

Jones suffered an ankle injury late in the fourth quarter of the Patriots’ 37-26 loss to the Ravens last Sunday. The 2021 first-round pick was assisted to the locker room shortly after and appeared to be in significant pain.
Jones was seen on the practice field on Friday despite not participating in any of the team’s previous days of preparation.
Head coach Bill Belichick shared earlier in the week that Jones’ ankle had been progressing well with each passing day, but it wasn’t enough for him to play in Green Bay on Sunday.
Veteran backup quarterback Brian Hoyer will now lead the Patriots’ offense in the absence of Jones.
