Texas A&M starting quarterback Max Johnson will not play against Alabama and will most likely miss the rest of the season due to a broken bone in his throwing hand, per multiple reports.
Johnson started at quarterback for the Aggies in their wins over Arkansas and Miami. The LSU transfer has thrown for 494 yards and three touchdowns since taking over as the Aggies’ starter. Haynes King is expected to start versus Alabama this weekend.
Jimbo Fisher said he liked what he saw from King against Mississippi State after Johnson went down.
“Haynes came and led us straight down, made a great drive” said Fisher. “His decision-making was good. Unfortunately he had a couple of breaks where the ball tipped the wrong way but he was doing the right thing. He came in and led well and took us to two touchdown drives as a matter of fact.”
Alabama and Texas A&M’s game Saturday will kick off at 7 p.m. CST at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will be broadcasted live on CBS.
