The college football world, especially fans of the Southeastern Conference, is praying for the health of a national treasure.

Mississippi State University released a statement on its head coach, Mike Leach, being hospitalized Sunday at the University of Mississippi Medical Center for a “personal health issue.” Since the statement, several reports have cited Leach to be in “critical condition” and in “need of a miracle.” No one knows what caused the issue, but Leach was rushed to the hospital by ambulance.

He is in his third season as the Bulldogs’ head coach after eight years at Washington State University (2012-19).

Many members of the college football landscape, Alabama fans, and Coach Nick Saban have offered prayers and thoughts for a strong recovery for Leach. The 61-year-old was an offensive pioneer of the “Air Raid,” but Leach has also been a great motivator for young men. The nation is hoping he pulls through in a difficult time, recovers well, and can return to coaching.
