Patriots quarterback Mac Jones could be facing a hefty fine from the NFL.
Last week when playing against the Bengals, Jones dove at the legs of defensive back Eli Apple who was trailing his teammate who had recovered a fumble that was ultimately called back. Jones was criticized for the hit because Apple was well behind the play with many deeming the play unnecessary.
I’d argue this is worthy of a suspension and a big fine from Mac Jones.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Jones is now currently being evaluated for a potential fine from the NFL. Rapoport also noted that Jones will not be suspended for the play.
#Patriots QB Mac Jones will be evaluated by the NFL for a possible fine for his low hit on #Bengals CB Eli Apple, but not a suspension, per me and @TomPelissero. This will be reviewed in the normal fine timetable.
