Xavier Lucas earned an offer from Alabama football Tuesday, pushing his offer total to 24.
Lucas now holds 28 offers after picking up offers from Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Purdue and Oregon State over the last few days. He attends Dillard High School in Florida, and he is a member of the 2024 recruiting class.
The Florida product was notified of his Alabama offer by his defensive back’s coach. He told Touchdown Alabama he was excited about getting an offer from the Crimson Tide because ‘they do not offer many people.’
“It is an amazing program, great education and brotherhood,” Lucas said. “You will get developed and become one of the best.”
Alabama hosted Lucas for camp last summer, and he had an opportunity to work under Saban while there.
“He is a great guy and an amazing coach,” said Lucas when discussing Saban. “As everyone knows, he is one of the big dogs. He has built a great program, and it will continue to get better and better. I attended their camp last summer, and he was giving me tips and pointers to help elevate my game. I thank him for that.”
Luas was told the Crimson Tide like his ‘size, length, and ability to run.’
At 6-foot-2 and 184 pounds, Lucas has the length Alabama has consistently gone after at cornerback. He plays bump-and-run coverage really well, and he has shown an ability to turn and run with wide receivers. His long arms allow him to break up all passes within the wide receivers’ catch radius. He also looks comfortable making tackles in space.
