Buford sophomore ATH Devin Williams feels like he in ‘elite club’ after earning Alabama offer

Devin Williams

Alabama football is attempting to establish a pipeline from Buford High School to Alabama as Devin Williams added an offer from the Crimson Tide to his rapidly growing recruitment this week.

Williams is a sophomore at Buford High School in Georgia, and he is one of the fastest-rising recruits in the country. He holds 23 D1 offers after earning an offer from the Crimson Tide.

The Buford product’s recruitment has been on fire over the last few months. He has pulled in 20 offers since Dec. 7, 2022. Buford’s running back coach Fyrone Davis told Williams Alabama’s cornerbacks’ coach Travaris Robinson offered him Tuesday.

“I was extremely excited and felt like I was in an elite club,” Williams told Touchdown Alabama. “Alabama does not just offer anyone. It is a premier program in the country. Only the best go there, and the expectation is to win the National Championship every year. Alabama is legendary.”

Buford is known for using its best athletes on both sides of the football. Alabama football’s freshmen, Isaiah Bond and Jake Pope, were both stars on defense and offense when they were wolves.

Williams is no different. The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder has blazing speed and holds a PR of 10.86 in the 100-meter dash. Williams’ speed allows him to turn and run with any receiver as a defensive back and it makes him a threat to create an exciting play every time he touches the football.

Alabama will most likely recruit Williams as a defensive back, but he could be a slot wide receiver at the next level as well.
