The Los Angeles Chargers are expected to promote former Alabama defensive backs coach, Derrick Ansley to defensive coordinator, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
Ansley was the Chargers’ secondary coach last season. He had two stints at Alabama with his first starting in 2010 when he was an on-field defensive graduate assistant. The Alabama native left UA to be the defensive backs coach at Tennessee in 2015.
Alabama hired Ansley again in 2016 as its defensive backs coach. Ansley earned his first defensive coordinator job in 2019 when Tennessee hired him. He is back running things on defense on the West Coast with his new opportunity.
