Alabama first SEC progam to offer 6-foot-3 ATH Jameer Grimsley

Jameer Grimsley earned his first SEC offer from Alabama Wednesday.

Grimsley attends Tampa Catholic High School in Florida. He is quickly becoming a highly recruited prospect as he has gone from having Rhode Island be his only offer to having more than 15 D1 offers within a few weeks.

The Florida product earned his offer from Alabama during a conversation with Alabama’s cornerback coach Travaris Robinson and the Crimson Tide’s running back coach Robert Gillespie. The junior said his offer from the Tide makes him feel like he has arrived as a top prospect.

“I can say it feels like a dream come true,” Grimsley told Touchdown Alabama. “I feel like I have arrived by getting an offer from them. It was my first SEC offer, so it is a big introduction to a big conference.”

Alabama plans to recruit Grimsley as a cornerback.

Grimsley has met Nick Saban before, who works closely with Alabama’s defensive backs.

“He definitely knows what he is doing,” Grimsley said. “If I go to Alabama, I know I will be developed as a corner, especially as a defensive back. He seems like a really good coach.”

With the quick rise in his recruitment, Grimsley plans to take multiple visits soon to get a better feel for the teams recruiting him. He is looking to possibly visit Alabama this spring.

“I want to fill the teams out to see what is going be the best fit for me, where I can get developed the best and just which school can really help me make it to that next level and develop me as a man, preparing me to go out into the real world,” said Grimsley.

At 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, Grimsley has the length Alabama and other top programs are going after at the cornerback position. He also possesses elite ball skills.

“I am very physical at the line of scrimmage,” Grimsley said. “I like to hit people. If I can get my hands on you to disrupt the route, it is always good for me.”
