Alabama football enrolled a good portion of its 2023 recruiting class in January.

Each of the Crimson Tide’s early enrollees will participate in the Crimson Tide’s full off-season program. Touchdown Alabama will highlight each of Alabama’s newest additions over the next few weeks in an article series.

We continue our series with the nation’s top 2023 JUCO recruit, Malik Benson.

Malik Benson

-Classification: Junior

Position: Wide Receiver

-Hometown: Lansing, Kansas

-Height: 6-1

-Weight: 185 pounds

Summary: Malik Benson was tabbed as the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.

Like most top JUCO prospects, he is expected to come in and earn playing time right away. Being someone who feels his game is a mix of Jameson Williams and Henry Ruggs, this should not be a problem for the Kansas product.

Benson was able to rewrite the record books at Hutchinson Community College breaking the Blue Dragons’ career receiving yards records during his two-year stint. The Kansas native is explosive after the catch. He is the type of wide receiver, who can turn a slant into a long touchdown.

The junior is also a tough runner with the ball in his hands as he is able to bounce off tackles. His JUCO experience has helped develop him into an advanced route runner, who knows how to create separation off the line of scrimmage with a set of great releases.

Alabama football will return a deep wide receiver group with a lot of untapped potential. There is expected to be some room for a few new-name wide receivers to make an impact.
