Saraland’s sophomore quarterback, KJ Lacey picked up an offer from Alabama football in January, and it was an offer he knew was going to be big before he got it.

Lacey is a sophomore at Saraland High School in Alabama. He holds 20 D1 offers, including offers from Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

The 2025 quarterback found out about his offer from Alabama through his head coach Jeff Kelly.

“It is big,” Lacey told Touchdown Alabama when discussing his offer from the Crimson Tide. “That is like the top dog really. I am glad to have an offer from Alabama.”

Alabama’s coaching staff had a previous relationship with Lacey as he has visited multiple times in the past. His teammate, Ryan Williams, committed to Alabama in October. His past visits to Tuscaloosa have allowed him to build a relationship with the Tide’s staff.

“When I go up there, I talk to all the coaches,” Lacey said. “I am cool with all the coaches. We have good relationships. It is cool to just go up there for visits and build relationships with the coaches.”

Lacey plans to be back in Tuscaloosa on April 10.

The sophomore threw for 3,176 passing yards and 40 passing touchdowns as a sophomore. He also rushed for four touchdowns en route to leading Saraland High School to a class 6A State Championship.

Lacey is working on being more consistent.

“I just really just working on staying consistent, having better accuracy and arm strength, everything really,” said Lacey.
