With the NFL Scouting Combine ramping up in Indianapolis, teams are finally getting some clarity on the measurables of this season’s prospects.

One of the more discussed topics leading into the week was the revelation of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young’s true height. Young had been listed as 6-0 during his tenure with the Crimson Tide but many believed that size was a bit inflated.

On Monday ESPN’s Todd McShay revealed that Young’s true height is actually 5-10.5 making him one of the shortest quarterbacks in the entire NFL next season.

McShay also shared his reaction to the reveal stating that if he was a general manager of an NFL team this would be a major issue for him.

“If I’m a GM, I’m scared to death of drafting him,” McShay said.

The NFL has seen its fair share of successful undersized quarterbacks in the league with many linking Young to the likes of Drew Brees and Russell Wilson. Most recently Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and has gone on to become one of the top-paid quarterbacks in the league.

McShay also pointed out all of Young’s other attributes which made him a special player at Alabama.

“I love Bryce Young, I really do,” McShay said. “I know he’s 195 pounds; a really food friend of mine who’s a scout had him at 5-10.5. But I met with him, I’ve talked to him. He’s special. he’s different. He has the poise, the presence in the pocket, the playmaking, everything else you want. I absolutely love Bryce Young. I would bet on him.”

So whether Young’s height or his other measurables are actual concerns for teams is yet to be seen, but at the moment he is still very much in play to be the first quarterback taken in this year’s draft.
