A familiar face is expected to return to Alabama this fall.

Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger reported that Charlie Strong is expected to return to the Crimson Tide to once again serve as a defensive analyst.

Last season, Strong worked at Miami under Mario Cristobal and served alongside Kevin Steele who is now the defensive coordinator at Alabama. He previously was an analyst for the Crimson Tide for the 2020 season before moving on to the NFL to be the linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.

Strong began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Florida in 1983 and would later become the Gators’ defensive coordinator from 2003-09 helping the program win two national titles (2006 and 2008).

He also has experience as a head coach with an overall record of 74-53 in 10 seasons with stops at Louisville (2010-13), Texas (2014-16) and USF (2017-19). Strong was also the head coach at Florida for one game in 2004 which was a Peach Bowl loss to Miami.
