Alabama football is expected to have its voice back in the radio broadcast booth next fall.
Eli Gold, the Crimson Tide’s longtime play-by-play announcer, has been battling cancer.
He missed the 2021 season and was dearly missed by the Alabama nation. Gold told his good friend, Jim Ross, that he is healing from cancer and will return to the broadcast booth in the fall. He has been the voice of Tide football since 1988, calling incredible games and witnessing seven national championships (BCS and CFP eras) from behind the scenes.
Alabama fans are rejoicing on Twitter to have Gold return.
