The head football coach for the UAB Blazers Trent Dilfer is all in on playing Alabama or Auburn in the spring instead of having an inter-squad scrimmage.
The idea of Alabama or Auburn playing Troy or UAB during the spring was recently brought up by Auburn’s head football coach Hugh Freeze. Dilfer was asked about his thoughts o on playing either program, and he appeared to love the idea.

“Pretty, pretty, pretty please,” Dilfer said Wednesday. “Yes, of course. Hugh’s right. I think we all want, whether you’re Auburn or Alabama, you’re looking for live competition. You’re looking for not to play yourself. If you’re UAB or Troy, you’re looking to play people who are perceived to be much better than you so you can use it as a test to see where your program’s at.”
Yesterday afternoon Auburn Head Coach Hugh Freeze said he'd be open to playing a local school in place of their traditional spring game. One such school he referenced was UAB.

Nick Saban has not commented on the idea. The Crimson Tide will play their spring game on April 22.
