After taking major strides last season, Tua Tagovailoa is now working towards erasing the biggest concern surrounding him as a player.

His durability.

Despite setting several career highs last season, Tagovailoa added to his lengthy injury history with several concussions which ultimately brought his season to an end. Tagovailoa is already working on ways to cut down on some of his hard falls with the help of some jiu-jitsu training, but he’s also looking to add some size to his stature.

“Offseason training has been good,” he said to the Palm Beach Post on Monday. “Been working on strength in many areas and been chipping away at things that I felt like I needed to work on to get to where I feel like I can get to in the later parts of the season.”

Tagovailoa was listed at 217 pounds last season so adding a few more to his frame could help in alleviating some of the larger hits he tends to take throughout the year.

Since the end of last season, the Dolphins have made several moves to round out its team which includes acquiring star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The team also sees the return of its impressive wide receiver duo in Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who lit up opposing defenses in 2022.

Hill, who was acquired in a blockbuster deal before the 2022 season, set career highs in receptions, receiving yards and yards per game while playing alongside Tagovailoa.

With a team primed to make a run at the Super Bowl, Tagovailoa is looking forward to getting to work.

“I’m very excited,” Tagovailoa said. “I think our entire team is excited to get back out there, get to meet a lot of the newer guys, a lot of the newer guys getting to meet the guys that have been in this system for a while year now, so it’s very exciting.

“And I think a lot of fans, the community, everyone is very supportive, and you can feel their support, and everyone’s excited.”
