After a disappointing second season and an offseason with uncertain comments regarding his future with the franchise, the players in the Patriots locker room have been showing their support for Mac Jones.
Even newcomer JuJu Smith-Schuster, who signed a three-year $33 million deal with the Patriots, is backing Jones as the team’s quarterback.
“I think his role, his leadership is something that I’ve seen from afar,” Smith-Schuster said according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. “His work ethic is hard — he’s a hard-working guy. Very, very smart at what he does in just working on his craft.
“But for Mac, though, the sky is the limit. I think with the guys that we have here and all the weapons, it’s going to be a fun year.”

Smith-Schuster is expected to be Jones’ top target this season as he comes to New England after one season with the Chiefs which resulted in a Super Bowl win. In his lone year in Kansas City, Smith-Schuster caught 78 passes for 938 yards and three touchdowns.
