A former Alabama safety got off to a good start at an NFL rookie minicamp.
DeMarcco Hellams, a seventh-round draft pick by the Atlanta Falcons, showcased his speed and footwork during practice.

As a native of Washington, D.C., he came to the Crimson Tide as a four-star in 2019.

He was one of the team’s top tacklers in the last three seasons. Hellams led the Tide for total tackles (108) in 2022 and had three tackles for loss, a sack, seven pass breakups, a quarterback hurry, a forced fumble, and an interception. He assisted Alabama to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2020 and two Southeastern Conference Championships in 2020 and 2021.
ESPN’s Louis Riddick has Hellams as a marquee impact player by his third year in the league.
