He has grown from a five-star athlete to a leader in Alabama’s defensive secondary.
Kool-Aid McKinstry, a junior cornerback, improved himself as a defender in 2022.

He finished the season with a team-high 15 pass breakups and an interception. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder loves the mentality Kevin Steele is bringing to the group as the defensive coordinator, and McKinstry is in for a marquee campaign. He knows a successful performance will lead to him becoming a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. McKinstry, a native of Birmingham, Ala., continues his offseason training with Coach Leonard Stephens of Step By Step Performance. He is performing strength training with Coach L, getting himself bigger to handle physical wide receivers and big running backs in run support on defense.

McKinstry made a few All-American teams last season, but he wants to accomplish more in the fall.
He wants to earn his first national championship with the Crimson Tide.
