Alabama football welcomed its most recent transfer additions to campus over the weekend.
Touchdown Alabama will highlight each of Alabama’s newest additions over the next few days in an article series.
We continue our series with former UAB defensive back, Jaylen Key.
-Classification: Redshirt Senior
–Position: Defensive Back
-Hometown: Tallahassee, Florida
-Weight: 210 Pounds
Key was one of the top safety transfer prospects, and his final choices were a clear indication of that. The former UAB defensive back chose the Crimson Tide over Florida State, Ohio State, Oregon, Ole Miss and North Carolina.
At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Key had a breakout year for the Blazers last season, finishing the year with 60 tackles, three interceptions, 4.5 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

Alabama lost two starting safeties from last season in DeMarcco Hellams and Jordan Battle to the NFL. It returns Malachi Moore, Kristian Story, DeVonta Smith and Jake Pope along with the addition of Caleb Downs, Tony Mitchell and Brayson Hubbard. Moore has the most experience among this group, which is why Alabama went to the portal for Key, to add depth, experience and a potential immediate impact player.
Key is expected to push for a starting spot within Alabama’s secondary right away.
