Mac Jones wants a No. 1 wide receiver to throw to in New England.

He is confident in the players on the roster, but free agent DeAndre Hopkins was the conversation in Monday’s interview.

Hopkins, 31, visited the Tennessee Titans over the weekend, but he has a visit with the Patriots coming. He is a three-time first-team All-Pro receiver. Hopkins has six 1,000+ yard receiving seasons in ten years and has plenty of football left in him.

Jones had a No. 1 option to go to at the University of Alabama, and DeVonta Smith helped Jones become a Heisman finalist, Consensus All-American, and a single-season school record holder for passing yards (4,500) and touchdown passes (41) in 2020.

Jones, a former two-time College Football Playoff National Champion, made one thing clear about Hopkins during his interview with reporters after practice. The No. 15 overall of the 2021 NFL Draft wants all the weapons he can get on offense.

“I think DeAndre is a great player,” Jones said. “You watch his film from college to the NFL, he’s done a great job. We would love to have him. We do have a great group of guys. We just know that we want to win.”

New England made moves this offseason by adding JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mike Gesicki, but landing Hopkins would be next level for Bill Belichick.
