Nick Saban is making his rounds to national media and Capitol Hill before he prepares for SEC Football Media Days.
He did an interview Monday at the Alabama football facility with Joel Klatt of Fox Sports. Saban discussed the challenges of coaching in the modern era on the Joel Klatt Show as the 71-year-old prepares for his 17th season with the Crimson Tide.

He is focused on winning a seventh national championship in Tuscaloosa (Ala.), but Saban offered Klatt a job on his coaching staff during the interview. Klatt laughed and said, “Don’t float that out there if you are not serious.” Saban did not clarify one way or another, but it was a fun moment between him and Klatt. He is navigating a lot in college football — including NIL, the transfer portal, two recruiting periods, coaches/players leaving and coming, the College Football Playoff, and proving to his competition he remains on top of the mountain. A lot is assigned to him, but Saban handles it well and continues to move forward.
He will have Texas and Oklahoma to deal with in 2024 as both join the Southeastern Conference.
