Trevon Diggs is among the best young cornerbacks in the National Football League.

A former second-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft, Diggs has defended 49 passes — including 17 interceptions. He led the league with 11 interceptions in 2021, earning first-team All-Pro honors and his first of two Pro Bowl selections. Diggs is growing into an elite talent, but the University of Alabama alumnus questions an uncanny stat from Pro Football Focus compared to Eagles’ cornerback, Darius Slay. PFF designed a graphic for social media to compare Diggs’ stats to Slay’s. Diggs has more interceptions (14 to 6) and forced incompletions (24 to 17) than Slay, but it is the “open targets allowed” category that concerns Diggs. The website had Slay with 58 open targets allowed as opposed to Diggs who has 93.

Diggs did not understand the category, and he took to Twitter to gain information.
What does open targets allowed mean? Is that a thing? https://t.co/40Y2f3uZTo

When he has an opportunity to shut down a play, Diggs normally does it. PFF may need to explain its reasoning to Diggs.
