Kirby Smart has Georgia grabbing all the headlines after back-to-back College Football Playoff National Championships, but Saban does not want the masses to lose sight of him. National media pundits see a fire in Saban and former collegiate athletes recognize it as well. Rohan Davey, a former quarterback for Louisiana State University, played for Saban in the Southeastern Conference — helping the Tigers to a Sugar Bowl victory in 2002. Davey said this season will be Saban’s best coaching job.

“He is highly motivated,” Davey said to Jacques Doucet of WAFB 9 Sports about Saban. “He is highly motivated. He is highly pissed off. Coach Saban does not want the spotlight off him and Alabama. I don’t care what anyone says, Coach Saban wants that spotlight. He wants that spotlight on his program. He wants his program talked about, but the one thing I know about that little man, he is a master motivator. I almost said master manipulator because he is probably that too, but he is a master motivator.”

Davey said Saban will get the most out of Alabama’s players this year.

“I hear everyone talking about their quarterback situation, it does not matter,” Davey said. “He is pissed. He is going to use that as motivation for these guys. I think that this year will be one of his best coaching jobs.”

Davey said Saban will use the conversation of Georgia being the “new standard” of college football to motivate the players.

We are about to have an interesting season in the fall as Saban enters year No. 17 for the Crimson Tide.
