The University of Alabama is 43 days away from its football team taking to Bryant-Denny Stadium for its season. In continuing the 50-day countdown, Touchdown Alabama Magazine highlighted a redshirt freshman for No. 43. Shawn Murphy, a five-star linebacker in the 2022 class from Virginia, is a young player that Crimson Tide fans are excited to see become impactful.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder played in five games, totaling two tackles and a pass breakup last year.

Murphy earned the Dick Butkus Award, which goes to the nation’s top linebacker in high school, college, and professional football, during his senior season at Unity Reed High School in 2021. We will see how he performs in fall camp for the Tide.
