He needed a season to understand what makes Alabama football significant, but now he has clarity.
Jermaine Burton, a former transfer from Georgia, is now bought into the principles of the Crimson Tide. He is locked into winning and helping this team capture a College Football Playoff National Championship. The California native led the team in receiving yards (677) in 2022, but he also suffered dropped passes. He has taken it upon himself to improve and help others get better as well. Burton wants to see the wide receiver room develop an identity; however, he understands it starts with him.

He shared his mentality Thursday with local reporters during an interview.
“At the end of the day, we still have one goal and that is to win,” Burton said. “I’m not focused on the amount of yards, touches, or touchdowns. If I can do the minimum but get a national championship with this team, I will do that.”
A maturity has happened for Burton. Nick Saban wanted him to become more accountable and he has.
The 6-foot, 194-pounder is bringing young receivers along and pushing veteran to be better.

He knows he has to be a security blanket in the passing game for Jalen Milroe, Ty Simpson, or Tyler Buchner as the starting quarterback. Burton is looking forward to making plays at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Saturday’s scrimmage.
