All eyes are on one player in Alabama’s defensive secondary this season.

Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry, a junior cornerback, lands on a fourth preseason watch list. After earning a spot on Lott IMPACT Trophy, Bronko Nagurski Award, and Jim Thorpe Award lists, McKinstry is now on the Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list.

The honor goes to the player of the year in college football from the Walter Camp Football Foundation. Three former Alabama players have won the honor since 1967. Derrick Henry (2015), Tua Tagovailoa (2018), and DeVonta Smith (2020) captured the award as offensive players. Henry and Smith would also win the Heisman Trophy while Tagovailoa was a Heisman finalist.
