Mac Jones has the confidence of his teammates, especially on defense, for the Patriots in his third season.

He is having a great training camp for New England and is showing he’s the guy to remain as the starting quarterback.

Jones and Bill O’Brien are on the same page as quarterback and offensive coordinator.

The former Alabama signal-caller has turned in his best performances in camp as of late. He struggled last season, but Jones is ready to return to his rookie form and bring the swagger from the Crimson Tide. Adrian Phillips, a safety for the Patriots, spoke to reporters about how Jones is a ‘way better’ quarterback. He has an opportunity to put New England back in the playoffs.

“He took last year on the chin,” Phillips said about Jones. “He would be the first one to tell you that it was not how he wanted to play, and for all of us, that’s not how any of us wanted to play. He is coming out here every day and is trying to light our defense up. He wants to light us up. I’m talking about bombs, anything he can do, and you love to see that. He is always checking the play, he is always ready to give you something you have to think about. I think his confidence is through the roof right now.”

People are not giving the Patriots a chance to win the AFC East, but a confident Jones could be the difference.

He will begin this season by leading New England against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles.
