Alabama football starts the 2023 season 1-0, but it learned two things about its quarterback.

Jalen Milroe, a redshirt sophomore, has the support of his teammates. He showed incredible leadership in pregame, during the matchup, and after the game versus Middle Tennessee State. Milroe credited his teammates and the coaching staff for his electric performance against the Blue Raiders. People questioned his deep ball accuracy before the game, but he emphatically answered with three long touchdown passes. The native Texan guided the Crimson Tide to a 56-7 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium, and the locker room believes in him. JC Latham, a veteran offensive lineman, sent a message on Twitter that supports Milroe as the guy.

He guided Alabama on six touchdown drives, becoming the first signal-caller in school history to record three touchdown passes and two touchdown runs in the same game. Milroe also tied for fourth all-time in program history for the most scores accounted for in a matchup with five. He completed 13 of 18 passes for 194 yards and had 48 yards rushing. Milroe provided excitement on his first touchdown run, taking a broken play (bad snap) and turning it into a score. He will lead the Tide against Texas next week at BDS, but Milroe has everyone’s attention. We will see how he performs with ESPN’s College Football GameDay in the house.
