Nick Saban comments on Jalen Milroe’s future as Alabama’s QB

Jalen Milroe caught the attention of the college football world when he led Alabama football to a 57-6 season-opening win over Middle Tennessee on Saturday night.

Milroe accounted for five of the Crimson Tide’s scores in the win. He finished the night with 194 passing yards, 48 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and three passing touchdowns after starting at quarterback in the matchup. Nick Saban was asked about the Texas native’s future during his post-game press conference.

“So you’re asking me to speculate and answer a hypothetical question about some guys gonna perform in the future?” Saban said. “I don’t really know. I mean, I love him. I think he’s doing well. I know he’s working hard to try to improve. He’s a good competitor. He’ll do everything he can to play his best. But I don’t have, this is a Coke bottle, it’s not a crystal ball. How do you think he’ll play? Do you have any idea? It’s hard to know. It’s what we all strive for, though. We want everybody to play well, and we’re gonna prepare him the best way we can. But that’s why you play the games.”

Milroe and the Tide will welcome Texas to Bryant-Denny Stadium this upcoming weekend for a prime-time matchup.
