Bryce Young was a special quarterback at Mater Dei High School and the University of Alabama. He captured a Heisman Memorial Trophy, has a College Football Playoff National Championship ring, and became the No. 1 overall selection to the National Football League. Young was so impressive in offseason camp that Frank Reich of the Carolina Panthers named him the starting quarterback. He performed well in the preseason, but the California native received a tremendous honor on Wednesday.

Young was voted a team captain by his peers for the regular season.

Carolina will be led by a rookie quarterback; however, he carries the poise and confidence of a veteran. Young took down the best defenses in the Southeastern Conference during two seasons as a starter for the Crimson Tide.
