The staff at Touchdown Alabama provide their predictions and analysis of the game.
Alabama 31 – Ole Miss20
Key Insight: “Lane Kiffin has his best chance to beat Alabama, but he comes up short in this one. Tommy Rees finally digs into his bag as an offensive coordinator and gets Jalen Milroe on the attack as a passer and runner. Alabama’s OL returns to being physical and elite up front, and Justice Haynes will have a breakout showing on the ground as a freshman. Defensively, Kevin Steele will bring heat to Jaxson Dart all game. The defensive line will find a way to handle Quinshon Judkins and win on third downs.”
Alabama 31 – Ole Miss 28
Key Insight: “This one has an opportunity to go down to the wire in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide have found their man at quarterback, and if their offense is catered to the strengths of Jalen Milroe, it is expected to find some rhythm if Alabama’s offensive line can find its identity. This game includes a lot of ifs that will determine this matchup. The Tide”s defense has flashed some effectiveness at times, but they will have their hands full with Ole Miss today.
Alabama 28 – Ole Miss 24
Key Insight: “Alabama enters today still in search of an offensive identity even with Jalen Milroe now the full-time starter. It’s difficult to believe that the offense could have a repeat performance from a week ago, but the issues blocking up front have persisted in all three games. Nick Saban’s defense will need to rely upon that much more going up against Jaxson Dart and Lane Kiffin’s offense. Knowing this year’s Alabama team, it’s going to be ugly but it won’t be losing two games in September for the first time since 2007.”
