Alabama coaches name eight Players of the Week from Mississippi State game

The Alabama coaching staff named eight players of the week following the Crimson Tide’s 40-17 win at Mississippi State last Saturday. JC Latham, Jase McClellan and Amari Niblack on offense; Caleb Downs, Justin Eboigbe and Trezmen Marshall on defense; and Kendrick Law and Will Reichard on special teams were all recognized for their efforts against the Bulldogs.

 

OFFENSE

JC Latham

  • Recorded a career-high seven knockdown blocks while not allowing a sack, hit or hurry against the Bulldogs
  • Anchored an Alabama offensive line that accounted for 357 yards of total offense, including 193 yards on the ground and 164 through the air
  • Cleared a path for Jase McClellan to rack up 63 yards and a touchdown while also allowing Jalen Milroe to scamper for two more scores and 69 yards rushing

 

Jase McClellan

  • Led the Crimson Tide with 15 rushes totaling 63 yards and a score
  • Scored from two yards away, one of the Tide’s three rushing touchdowns on the night
  • Added two receptions for 25 yards

 

Amari Niblack

  • Led Alabama in targets, receptions and receiving yards
  • Hauled in three passes for 61 yards with a long reception of 23
  • Converted a first down on all three catches

 

DEFENSE

Caleb Downs

  • Posted a career-high 13 tackles, including five solo stops
  • Also recorded his first career interception, returning the pick 11 yards

 

Justin Eboigbe

  • Recorded six tackles in Starkville
  • Contributed half a tackle for loss (-4 yards) and half a sack (-4 yards) while adding one quarterback hurry

 

Trezmen Marshall

  • Finished with nine tackles from his starting middle linebacker spot
  • Led UA with two tackles for loss (-11 yards) and 1.5 sacks (-11 yards)

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kendrick Law

  • Combined for 54 yards on two kickoff returns with a long return of 30 on the game’s first play
  • Added one reception for five yards from his wideout spot

 

Will Reichard

  • Finished with a career-high 16 points thanks to four field goals and four PATs
  • Hit on his three-point tries from 48, 38, 34 and 48 to tie his career-high in field goals made in a game
  • Added eight kickoffs for 486 yards with four touchbacks
