Alabama football defensive back, Caleb Downs made the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America watch list.
Downs leads Alabama in tackles with 54 tackles and two interceptions this season. He was selected along with 60 other freshmen for the All-America watch list.
Downs’ outstanding performances through the season have not gone unseen and have been very awarding. He was named the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Week and the SEC Freshman of the Week earlier this season.
Nick Saban spoke highly of Downs last week ahead of the Crimson Tide’s matchup with Arkansas.
“I think what impresses me most about Caleb Downs is his maturity,” said Saban. “He is a very instinctive football player, but this guy, there’s no arrogance about him, being one of the best players in the country at his position. He is very focused, he is very coachable. He wants to know everything that you can ever tell him about how he can play his position better. He takes coaching well when you talk to him about what he did or didn’t do.”
